Respect. That’s all I really want from the business guys who think that I’m an over-promoted tech. Think about it for a minute. If the lines-of-business want new capabilities and applications, who do they turn to? Me. If the legal eagles want to ensure that our systems can meet compliance with governmental regulations, who do they talk to?

According to a Cisco newsroom article, Cisco's real involvement in the data center market began in 2002 when they introduced the MDS 9000 line of switches for managing SANs. This was followed by application networking services, such as WAAS and ACE in 2006, and VFrame to virtualize the data center in 2007.

We've all been hearing a lot of noise about green computing initiatives, with the thrust of the messaging geared towards environmental issues like pollution, landfills and energy wastage. Yet, when I mention the word "Green" at the boardroom, my CEO looks at me as if I've just come to work wearing a tie-dye t-shirt and a torn pair of jeans.
